Invitation
Apr 30, 2007 at 10:05 AM

On behalf of the Organising Committee, we extend a warm invitation to you to join us in Orange in May 2009 to help us celebrate 40 years of the Orange Beefsteak and Burgundy Club (founded 12 May 1969).

Orange is a bustling town of 40,000 in the cool climate Central Tablelands of New South Wales. It is well known as a mecca for food and wine enthusiasts and, at 900 m above sea level, is developing an enviable reputation as Australia's newest premium wine region. Orange boasts a range of fine restaurants with three "hatted" restaurants in the region (SMH Good Food Guide 2006). We look forward to sharing the high quality produce of the region with Beefsteak and Burgundy Club members from around Australia in May 2009.

Orange in Autumn

Early May is well into autumn in Orange and the street trees will be in their late autumn livery. As Orange is situated at around 800m altitude, you can expect the air to be crisp and refreshing in the morning and the evenings cool. A typical temperature range for early May in Orange is 5–14C but Orange can turn on some strange weather at times. We had snow on the ground in November last year and over 30C a couple of weeks later.

The message is, bring warm clothes, particularly if you are used to a more coastal or tropical climate.
